Review: Braven BRV-1M Bluetooth Speaker

iLounge - Fri, 07/08/2016 - 3:23pm

Braven's new waterproof BRV-1M ($100) Bluetooth speaker is the company's updated version of 2013's BRV-1. While that small speaker hit the market for $180, BRV-1M has slashed that price tag in half. BRV-1M actually has more in common with a favorite speaker of ours, last year's BRV-PRO. BRV-1M boasts a similar design and size, but it's mostly made of plastic and rubber. The speaker has a 2200 mAh power bank with a 1A port to recharge devices; Braven claims BRV-1M gets 12 hours of playtime on one charge. The IPX7 waterproof speaker comes with an action mount, tie-down strap, aux cable, and a micro-USB cable for recharging. BRV-1M comes in red, black, or gray.{/exp:char_limit}

Mac: BusyMac BusyCal 3

iLounge - Fri, 07/08/2016 - 10:42am

Although Apple has made some very nice improvements to its built-in Calendar app in macOS over the years, Apple’s core app remains focused on simplicity and easy of use, lacking the sophistication that many power users are looking for in a calendar app. Fortunately, if you’re somebody with a busy lifestyle who is looking for more from your macOS Calendar app, BusyMac has you covered with BusyCal 3 ($50). This new version of the popular calendar app brings a collection of great new features, including things that were previously the exclusive domain of Apple’s own Calendar app, such as support for travel times. BusyCal 3 continues to allow you to customize your calendar view with everything from font styles and colors to time formats, number of days or weeks shown, and more.

News: New alleged iPhone 7 renderings show more angles, lack of headphone jack

iLounge - Wed, 07/06/2016 - 9:01am

A new set of renderings, said to be of the upcoming iPhone, has recently been posted by NowhereElse. The renderings back up previous rumors that Apple is doing away with the headphone jack and adding a dual-lens camera to its larger model. The casing designs also show a larger camera hole on the smaller model—again, consistent with previous leaks—and the phone’s antenna lines moved to the edges, as has been seen before. ...

Review: Incase Keyboard Case for iPad Air 2

iLounge - Tue, 07/05/2016 - 3:02pm

Incase's new Keyboard Case for iPad Air 2 ($150) is a bit of a curious product. At first glance, there's nothing strange or unreasonable about it. It's a Bluetooth keyboard case for iPad Air 2. But we've also just reviewed ClamCase's very similar ClamCase+ — and both ClamCase and Incase are owned by Incipio. Incase's Keyboard Case has the same rotating hinge as ClamCase+, allowing the iPad to be used for typing, video watching, or in "book mode" for standard use. The cases are also the same price, but a few key differences make the decision between the two clear to us. A micro-USB cable comes with Keyboard Case, and Incase claims the keyboard lasts for months on a single charge.{/exp:char_limit}
